Amchis Meet Again!

... but in IISc, not IIT-B! In keeping with the tradition of finding Amchi people wherever I go, I was glad to find at least 2 other Amchis on campus besides myself - CheBa (0) n NiNa (1) :) Then of course, there had to be an Amchi Me-Eat, held at, where else, but Kodial's (कोडीयाळ) at Malleswaram 8th cross. A small place serving mouth-watering Amchi delicacies - starting with the various लॉण्चॅ, वड्यॉ, खोट्टे, पानपॉळॅ , दीव्कड्गी सुक्कॅ, दाळी तॉय- शीत, and much much more, all washed down with yummy सोल कड़ी. The sweet taste of the शेवई-रस्सू still lingers in the mouth.... yummmmm!!!! :) A few pics...

Birthday Wishlist

" Deck the hall with boughs of holly,

It's the season to be jolly

I simply looooooooooooove the Christmas season :) It brings a big smile on my face. My mood is always on the upswing throughout the season. It's such a happy n jolly time, especially since my birthday falls during this period ;)

God must love me SO much for He's gifted me with the most wonderful set of parents. I write this blogpost to tell people of a promise I made to my parents a few years ago so they can help me keep that promise.

I won't go into the details of what exactly made me take this decision, but I promised Mom n Dad on my 20th birthday that I will not accept any gifts on my birthday then onwards. (For all the curious cats, it all started with a long discussion on the 'give-n-take' in life :P). I have kept my word and most of my relatives and friends know about this and just send me their love and blessings on D- day. I write this blog coz most people in Bangalore don't know about this decision of mine. And since my birthday is fast approaching (yes! I will NOT give up a single opportunity to remind u about my birthday ;)) I want to inform people well in advance not to waste money on gifts, cards, chocolates, flowers or any other thing for that matter. It's an absolute No-No!

Also, today I have taken a decision to not accept gifts on any of the other 364 days as well. So, no gifts for me at all, irrespective of the day or occasion or even 'just-like-that'. Hope all my dear friends understand and even if they don't, they at least help me in keeping the promise I made to myself. Dosti ke khatir itna to kar hi sakte hain aap sab! So, from now on, quoting an oft seen line in Indian wedding cards which also applies in my case, "Gifts in blessings and good wishes only" :)

And for those who still want to gift me something, be sure you buy something that you've always, oh-so-wanted to buy for yourself, coz I'll gift it right back to you, n that's another promise I'll keep :D
